Ingredients for a Classic Hot Toddy:

2 oz of whiskey (bourbon or dark rum are also good choices)
1 tbsp of honey
1 tbsp of fresh lemon juice
1 cinnamon stick
1 star anise
a slice of fresh lemon, for garnish
6 oz of boiling water

Directions:

Step 1
In a mug, add the honey, fresh lemon juice, cinnamon stick and star anise.

Step 2
Pour in the spirit of your choice. Many people prefer bourbon for its rich and smooth taste, while others enjoy the depth of flavor that dark rum adds.

Step 3
Pour 6 oz of boiling water into the mug. The hot water helps melt the honey, infuse the spices and blend the flavors together.

Step 4
Stir the mixture gently to combine all the ingredients.

Step 5
Garnish your hot toddy with a slice of fresh lemon.

Feel free to add a cinnamon stick for an extra touch of cinnamon aroma and flavor.
